Question: Over the last year or so I have uploaded many files and folders to my account. I am getting ready to do a complete redesign of my web site and I am not going to need any of those. However I looked and there are so many files that I am concerned I may delete something important. How can I tell what's important to my account's operation? Answer: Here is a list of the system folders and files that can be found in an account: (Do not Delete) /big/dom/xyourdomainname/username /.mc .bash_history .bash_logout .bash_profile .bashrc .inputrc .mysql_history (if MySQL is enabled for your account) .qmail If you have ezmlm/ezmlm-idx mailing lists, you will also find files and directories for those here. Deleting those files or directories may cause your mailing lists to no longer function. /big/dom/xyourdomainname /.auth (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts) /.autorespond (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts) /.cnc (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts) /.srcmd /.sys_opr_dir /cgi-bin /username /logs /logs_cgi /logs_email /logs_services/ftp (Genesis Class only) /logs_web /vmspool (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts) /www .qmail-default (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts) .qmail-respond (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts) /big/dom/xyourdomainname/www 404.html index.fquest <- May be removed safely robots.txt /Real_Audio (deprecated, but may still exist in older accounts if RealMedia was requested) /Secure_Server (if SSL was requested for your account) Hopefully this will give you a map of what to avoid. (Note: Items in Bold Blue will reflect your actual xdom and username.)
