Page is not updating--old page is showing instead of new page?

Question:

I uploaded a new homepage (index.htm), then changed my mind and deleted that file and reloaded the original homepage. Now the alternate homepage is showing up, even though I deleted that file.

How do I get the "original" index.htm file, currently in the www folder, to show up?

Answer:

Either your browser or your ISP is caching the old page. You will need to first try clearing your browser's cache (see the documentation with your web browser for details). You can try holding down the Control Key and clicking Refresh/Reload at the same time. If that doesn't work, try using SHIFT+reload, CTRL+F5, or in some cases SHIFT+CTRL+reload or SHIFT+CTRL+R.

If the above suggestions do not help, it is your ISP that is holding on to the old page. The only resolution then is to wait a while and see if they let go of the cached page, or find a new ISP which does not cache web content. You may also try adding or removing the www. part of the URL in an attempt to fool the ISP into thinking you are viewing a new URL. Another trick may be to add a question mark and some text at the end of the URL like so:
http://www.example.com?sometext
