Change the MX record w/o losing my regular email?

Question:

I want to change the MX Record so I can offer free email accounts through a service like BigMailBox.com, but I do not want to lose the functionality of my regular email accounts that are set up. Is there a way I can do this?

Answer:

Once you change the MX Record for a domain all email handled by that domain goes under the control of the new service provider. This means that email services normally provided to the domain from FutureQuest, including QuestMail and ezmlm/ezmlm-idx, will no longer work.

The best option in this case would be to obtain a different domain name just for your free service and have it set up as an IRO or IRM. You could then change the MX Record for your extra domain without affecting the email of your main account.
