Generate my own CSR?

Question:

Is it possible to generate a CSR on our own? If so, how do we do it?

Answer:

Although it is possible to generate your own CSR, this is beyond the scope of technical support offered from the Service Desk.

For more information in this area, visit:
http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_faq.html#ToC24

Some SSL Certificate Issuers may offer instructions and/or a CSR generation Wizard such as:
https://www.digicert.com/easy-csr/openssl.htm
https://www.gogetssl.com/eng/support/online_csr_generator/

Additionally, FutureQuest has developed a CSR generation tool which is free to use and can be found at this link:
https://service.FutureQuest.net/gencsr.php

When using the FutureQuest CSR Generation tool you will be presented with a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) and a Key file. It is important to copy and save both the Key file and the CSR file. You will need to provide the CSR to a Certificate Authority (Verisign, Thawte, Geotrust, etc) in order to obtain your secure certificate; the Key file will need to be provided to us (see below).

After you have obtained an SSL Certificate from your issuing authority, you will need to place your order for SSL certificate installation -- being sure to submit both the secure certificate and the Key file in the order form. The order can be placed from either QuestAdmin:
http://www.QuestAdmin.net/
or via the public order forms at:
http://www.FutureQuest.net/Order/ ("Secure Server (your certificate)")
